Women play a crucial role in building peace, yet they are often marginalised and excluded from peace negotiations. The Women Interstate Peacebuilding Initiative sets out to change that narrative and amplify women’s voices in the peacebuilding process across the Benue–Taraba region and beyond.
The initiative builds women’s capacity to lead inter-religious and intercultural dialogue, foster social cohesion and mitigate conflict in their communities.
In August 2020, fifty (50) women from Benue and Taraba States received comprehensive training in peacebuilding and conflict management at the Global Village Suites, Abuja. Participants strengthened their skills in mediating and resolving conflicts, took on active roles in peace activities in their communities, and jointly agreed on action points released in a communiqué.
